How to Prepare for an Outdoor Yoga Class: Two Things You Need!

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

If you’re looking to take your yoga practice up a notch, why not try taking it outside? Practicing yoga in nature offers many benefits and can help you to connect with yourself and nature. But before you head out, there are a few things you should do to make sure your outdoor yoga session is enjoyable and safe.

Bring Appropriate Gear: No matter what type of outdoor yoga practice you’re doing, it’s important to dress appropriately for the weather conditions. This means wearing layers if it’s cold out and lightweight breathable fabrics if it’s hot out. It’s also a good idea to bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, towel or mat (depending on the surface), and any other items necessary for your practice such as blocks or straps.

Stay Hydrated: Hydration is key when practicing outdoors! Make sure you bring enough water so that you can stay hydrated throughout your practice no matter how long it lasts. If possible, bring an insulated water bottle so your drink stays cool even if it gets hot outside. Drinking plenty of water will keep your body temperature regulated, which is especially important during vigorous exercise like outdoor yoga classes.

Outdoor yoga classes can be incredibly rewarding experiences, but they require some extra preparation compared to indoor classes. Before heading out for your next outdoor yoga class, dress appropriately for the weather conditions and stay well-hydrated throughout your practice. With these tips in mind, your next outdoor yoga class will be a success!
